This is a flavorful, low sodium picante sauce that tastes much better than the store bought brands! |
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes (1 3/4 cups)
1 (4 ounce) can fire roasted diced green chiles (1/2 cup)
1/4 cup diced jalapeno pepper, seeds removed*
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon dried cilantro
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Method:
Place all of the ingredientd in a blender container. Pulse, 2 to 4 times, just until mixed. Store in a glass container in the refrigerator for 7 to 10 days. Makes 2 1/2 cups. (40 tablespoons)
Each tablespoon equals: 1 condiment
Nutritional info per tablespoon, approximately: 4 calories ~ 0 grams fat ~ 0.8 grams carbs ~ 0.7 grams net carbs ~ 0.11 grams protein
*Adding the jalapeno seeds to the salsa will increase the heat. If you prefer a milder salsa, you may omit the jalapeno entirely.
